MY SHOT OF THE DAY.

With this page I publish a single outstanding photo. This photo may not be for my gallery collection, and does not fall into a category and basically, random photos with a story behind it.

LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS.
The windows of the Otto Hager church, Ladismith. A spiritual photo to emphasize that there's light in the darkness.

CAPTURING UNREST.
One morning, our town unfolded to a horrifying picture when the local municipal workers strike almost went out of control... Burning Ladismith.

MOUNTAIN FIR OUT OF CONTROL.
Once again a terrible picture in the sense of destruction. This fire blazed for a few day's and by the grace of God, good rainfall in summer (unusual) brought the fir under control.

NIGHT SHOT OTTO HAGER
What is night shot! The camera placed on a small tripod for angle, a car came past and captured this moment... almost as if it was day!

FIELD SEEDS
Myself and photographer, Adriaan van den Berg went on a photo shoot at Opsoek. The theme... Plants of the Klein Karoo. This was my shot for the day.

ALOE FEROX AGAINST THE SUNSET.
I went to the local lookout with the idea to capture a night shot of our town. Instead, I was geeted with an awesome sunset.

COFFEE SHOP SURPRISE!
I had another photo in mind, across the road... Being short sighted I was trying to focus the camera, out of frustration turned the camera and took this "rouge" shot... awesome colors!

A CHEESY BUILDING.
And from the photo above, I finally got my shot of the Parmalat cheese sales builing... hence a cheesy building.

BLACK & WHITE
I still didn't get that Zebra photo...
KOOP EN LOOP
A real South African West Coast "saying" in Afrikaans. The English translation would be something like Buy and Good bye. This building is an out building of a liqueur store in Nuwerus on the West Coast of South Africa. Locals would buy there, sit in front of the building, get drunk and the local loud arguing. The owner of the store named the place Koop en Loop, meaning, buy here and get drunk somewhere else!

   LOST IN KOLMANSKOP.
This photo is suppose to fit in my Kolmanskop Collection, but the original color photo didn't look good. In black and white the textures of the wood is interesting... Hence a lost photo compared to the rest!

SOUTHERN LANDSCAPE NAMIBIA
I really love Namibia. I have since ever I can remember, regularly visited Namibia and even worked there! During my previous Namibia trip, following the dirt road from the Vioolsdrift border to Sendlingsdrift, I took this photo to remember my trip!

THE LONE TREE.
I read once on a photography forum of a fellow complain about most photographers taking a shot of that lone tree... Well, needless to say... it will always be something to look at. This photo taken between Aus and Luderiz in Namibia.

PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN
After a trip to my beloved Namibia, there is always that landmark or something to tell you, "your'e back home now"!

UNDER WATER
We visited the rooms of Dr Roux in George. Dr Roux is also a nature photographer and his awesome work displayed in his rooms. Well, the fish aquarium looked like an interesting subject. I choose this photo for my pic of the day. Technically it was a difficult shot not to get reflections on the glass.
STONE WALL
Today we went to George. Armed with my camera for my shot of the day. I tried a number of reflection photos, but the images just didn't work for me! At a shopping mall, I saw the stone work. The craftsmanship is amazing. Someone building this wall, look at each stone to place them almost perfectly. With this photo, I give credit to the person, unknown, that did this amazing work of art!

GYDO PASS AT NIGHT
On my tour I chose a shot of the day, and this was a shot I imagined to get! I sat two hours at the Gydo lookout to get this shot.

CEDERBERG
This was my shot of the day for Cederberg. Follow my blog pages for more Cederberg photos.
SUNK IN VELDDRIF
In the estuary at Velddrif, this boat made for a good shot!
GONE FISHING
My shot of the day in St Helena Bay.

 BIRD ISLAND
West coast bird sanctuary.
SAILING THE WIND
This was my shot of the day at the Villierdorp yacht club. The sailor is Jonathan.
I'm ON GUARD
I did a dogs shoot for a collage for Annelien. This was definitely my shot of the day!
OLD TECHNOLOGY
This is a photo of an old P4 Motherboard. Real old stuff, only good for the rubbish dump.
AQUARIUM
My shot of the day... See right side column for more aquarium shots.

COMMUNICATION TOWER
A shot in bulb mode.
LADISMITH AT NIGHT
From the hill at the communications tower, I took this shot in bulb mode.

STANLEY SE LIGGIE LADISMITH
The smallest hydro plant in the world.
I'm not exited about this photo because of the noise. It is a good photo showing the position of the light on the mountain. Its dry now and we had only a little rainfall and the light only burnt for a few days. In winter or after rain, I should have another opportunity to get this shot better.
SOUTHERN CROSS
The Southern Cross can be spotted by the two guide stars. I had to leave the tree leaves in the shot as it gives a different dimension.
FIND SOUTH ON THE SOUTHERN CROSS.
Draw the imaginary lines. The photo above was taken at about 18H00 UTC and this photo at about 21H00 UTC. South Africa Time is UTC + 2 Hours and our time stay the same throughout the year. We don't apply daylight saving as in most countries.
OTTO HAGER LADISMITH

WHAT GOES UP, MUST COME DOWN.
The inside of a lift.
NO BUCKET OR HEAD IN THE SAND!
Hey, he's got a Nikon! No need to hide ladies!
DROUGHT IN THE WESTERN CAPE.
Dams is empty that I haven't seen dry in 20 years. More and more Western cape towns are effected by this drought. The clouds come and go with no rain!
HOME MADE CHURCH ORGAN.
Special effect applied to original photograph.
Feathered Friend.

Emotion The end of the world.
The world is on a destructive path. The end of the world. Some nations are obsessed with war! Their movies show war and violence.  They feed on it! Even in a fictional story.
